Czech Mate is Paddock Wood Brewing Co.’s version of a Czech style Pilsner.
The colour is a lot more golden-yellow than the Pilsner Urquell or a Steam Whistle Pilsner. It has ample amounts of carbonation and has a nice white frothy head. The hop taste is high compared to those two as well. The higher hop character of Paddock’s Czech Mate reminds me more of an IPA. Which when you read the beer details “ABV 5.2%; IBU 40; SRM 5.5″ you definitely tell why you taste higher hop bitterness.
This was my first time trying a Paddock Wood Beer. I look forward to trying some others.
